Fathers Day Continued...

As I mentioned in my last post, Mylinh and I started to get pretty dang tired when baking/assembling those hamburger cupcakes. But what I forget to mention is how loopy and delirious we became. "Things" started happening as a result...

At one point, I had the last batch of cupcakes in the oven. These ones were supposed to be our "perfect" batch because we figured out how much batter to use in order to get the perfect bun size. To save time I wanted to put the last batch of "fries" in the oven at the same time, and so in they went.

But later, when I went to check on them, I ended up peeking into the oven, slamming it shut, and laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. Why? In my delirious state of mind, I set the pan of fry cookies ON TOP of the cupcakes. Needless to say they turned out less than perfect...

The funniness was amplified by our tiredness. We were both crying from laughing so hard. And it wasn't my normal watery eyes, it was full on crying. But it's one of those moments that we'll never forget. :)

DON'T BAKE WHEN TIRED.

Father's Day...and MORE cupcakes??

Yeah I know, it's a little much. But we had been planning this for MONTHS so we couldn't not do it.

We decided to surprise John for his first Father's day as an actual father. First of all, we bought him a chococat bento! Originally we wanted to get a specific panda one, but had to make due with what was in stock. Hey, it's cute anyway though right?

And what did we put in this adorable bento? Not a lunch, but adorable little "burgers" and "fries"! Mylinh and I saw this idea on bakerella months ago, and planned on making it for fathers day before their baby was even born.

Hamburger Cupcakes

The process was crazy. It might not have been so bad normally, but we had to hurry and try to get these done in about 3 hours. While we were making them our backs and feet started aching and we started complaining "UGH John better appreciate this!" About halfway through we pledged not to make any more cupcakes for a while...

On Father's day itself I delivered the burgers and fries to John in a Jack in the Box bag. (his favorite) and told him that I brought him lunch. I think it's safe to say he was surprised by what was really inside. Mission:ACCOMPLISHED.

I'd say we're a pretty awesome baby mama and....uh...whatever I am, for doing this! <3 OMG TINY BURGER!

Mi babies, they graduated!!!

It seems like I just graduated from highschool myself yesterday. My memories of this day mostly consist of me feeling like I was going to pass out, and just wanting the ceremony to end so I could eat! Oh and of course we all remember the infamous moment when my hat fell off. On stage. But in actuality, it's already been a year since I graduated. And this past Tuesday (the 14th) the class of 2011 had their chance.
Included in this class was my little brother, who despite some struggling with grades in the past, was able to push through and graduate on time with everyone else in his class. :)
Davic Graduated!
And of course graduating by his side was his older sister, and the other half of my brain. She may not have graduated with the rest of our class, but she beat several odds that would have kept the average student from ever graduating. My Linh Graduated!
I'm so extremely proud of both of them! And can't wait to see where else life takes them. <3

Cupcakes and fish.

So recently I was invited over to the Viet family's place, and Mylinh wanted to make cupcakes from her special cupcake book again. As usual we flipped through the book looking at design after design but realized most of them are too complicated for our lazy selves. But we ended up deciding on a cute but fairly simple owl design.

And when it was time for John to try, he made...a rather special owl....
It's okay special owl, I still love you!

Oh and I never blogged about it before, but a while back my fish had babies! I didn't know you had to do anything special for them, but apparently they need a net thing so there was this whole adventure of buying the stuff and catching all the little fishies, and it was all very exciting, but I was a loser and never blogged it like I said I would.

HOWEVER, a few days ago that holelie fish had MORE babies, even more than before. This time I took a picture:
You can't tell from this picture but they were TINY. They grow really fast thought and are already bigger.

Now I just need to get their daddy to pay child support. :P

Psycho Sexy Super Magic

Oops I forgot to update the day after my Art institute appointment thing. Imagine that....

So what happened was, we followed mapquest's (wrong) directions and were late. What a great start huh? ;)
I got a private tour of the school, because I'm so super special, and got to see a few classes as they were happening. I ended up getting an admissions advisor person that's pretty awesome. He's taking classes himself so he was able to give my first-hand advise and was very very honest with me. Which was good cause I was expecting some crusty old white guy try to completely sell me on the school regardless of the realistic costs. We talked in his office for a while and I had to fill out some paperwork, and at this point I was getting kind of hungry but oh well it'd be over right? wrooong.

Next I had to sit at a computer, read a 20 minute long thing about loans, sign a MPN, and then read some other thing. At this point I was starving. In fact now that I think about it I hadn't eaten since about 12 and it was now approaching 4:00.
When I FINALLY finished the super boringtastic computer loan things that I have now completely forgotten any knowledge
from, we still had to meet with my financial advisor....

By the time we got to go in and see her. I was really tired, and really hungry, and basically felt like I was going to pass out. It's kind of hard to listen to a lady talk about loans and expenses and grants when you feel like you're going to pass out. But I somehow survived it until the end and got something to eat.

Despite my practically dying, and all the expensiveness, I left with a positive feeling. At this point I would say I'm about 99% sure that I want to go there. and the other 1% of unsureness is probably just my normal worry-wort self thinking about all the negative things that could (BUT WONT) happen.

I would try to be more interesting, but I gotta get back to studying kanji...I'm kinda gonna miss cramming for kanji tests!
